Pharma stocks gain in Saturday market session

MUMBAI, SEPT. 8 (CMC) Healthcare and pharma stocks gained 1.22 per cent during the special trading session held on the BSE and the NSE on Saturday.
The special trading session was held between 11 p.m. and 12.45 p.m. The BSE decided to opt for the special session for testing its disaster recovery software, allowing live trading during the time-frame.
The NSE, too, decided to remain open during those hours.
Pharma stocks rallied on the BSE helped by gains in stocks, including Aurobindo Pharma, which closed at Rs 129.60 (up 5.24 per) and Strides Acrolab which ended the day at Rs 927.40 (up 4.63 per cent).
The Sensex closed at 17,750, up by 66 points or 0.37 per cent, while Nifty closed at 5,359, up 17 points or 0.31 per cent.
The top five Nifty gainers were Cipla, Sesagoa, Sterlite, Dr Reddy’s Labs and Hindalco, while the top five laggards included BHEL, JP Associates, NTPC, Bajaj Auto and HCL Tech.
