Lokayukta initiates probe against UP minister

Lucknow, Nov 01 (CMC) : In further embarrassment to the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati, the state Lokayukta on Tuesday ordered a probe against Energy Minister Ramveer Upadhyay in disproportionate assets case.
Upadhyay has been given two weeks time to file his reply, further complicating the problem for BSP in the poll-bound state.
The Lokayukta has also informed the Chief Minister about the probe.
According to reports, there is strong documentary evidence against Upadhyay including the papers of land that he has acquired with unfair means.
Upadhyay has also been accused of recommending the release of a noted criminal, the documentary evidence for which is also available.
