CBI toeing govt line in 2G scam probe: BJP
Clean Media Correspondent
New Delhi, Nov 18 (CMC): BJP on Friday accused CBI of toeing the government's line in the 2G scam investigations and trying to protect the corrupt.
"The government has been drawing a line to limit the CBI probe. CBI feels it is important to question former ministers Jaswant Singh and Arun Shourie but gives out a statement there was no need to question P Chidambaram," party spokesman J P Nadda told reporters.
He alleged that CBI has become "Congress Bureau of Investigation".
"The CBI is toeing the government line and following its directions. It has become a managed institution", he said.
Nadda demanded Chidambaram's resignation to facilitate a fair probe and that the real culprits be brought to book.
He accused Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi of protecting the corrupt.
Nadda said that with the release of its whistleblower MPs and Sudheendra Kulkarni in the cash-for-vote scam, the BJP stand on the issue has been upheld.
"The court has said they are whistleblowers and not conspirators. The Congress has now become a mute spectator", he said.
