…….A Nation of Misers or Beggars?

Are we a nation of Misers or Beggars? What made me ponder upon this question was, on the one hand, Rahul Gandhi’s belief that beggars found at various places in the country come only from UP and on the other, the recovery of Rs seventy crores in cash from a coal contactor in Jharia in the district of Dhanbad. It sounds paradoxical, but it is true. The income tax Department seized Rs 70 crores in cash from a contractor at one place and still the investigation is on and very soon the seizure may swell to over Rs 100 crores. As per the reports the counting of the currency notes is still on. There might be many such places in our country hiding thousands of crores of rupees.  Even outside the country the political leaders of different parties including Congress and bureaucrats have stashed lakhs of Crores of Rupees in foreign banks. The Congress party of Mr Rahul Gandhi is not ready to even disclose the names of the 700 odd people having big balances in the Swiss banks, the list of which has been provided to the Indian government.

As per the Income tax officials, the incident of recovering such a huge amount of money from a single place in India is a record. Oh!  Had he used that money for the emancipation of under privileged and downtrodden class, we would not have found beggars in any part of the country.

The nation is full of such contractors and demons of money. Their number would go in lakhs if not crores. Their money when added will go in trillions of Rupees. This huge amount if collected will be more than enough for actual development of the nation. In addition to it the black money stashed in foreign banks, if brought back, will further flavor the rise of the nation and its people.

If these misers become the donors and a change of heart occurs by way of motivation or force, nepotism ends and honesty becomes the order of the day, where will we find beggars…? Beggars and begging will obviously end in our society. This can also bridge the gap between the rich and the poor. Then will evolve the real meaning of democracy and Preamble of our constitution will become the practiced truth!
