Chandauli: April 30: (CMC)  Banaras Hindu University Prof. Lalji Singh is
seriously pursuing for BHU Sir Sundarlal Hospital to get AIIMS status.
It may be mentioned here recently in a debate in Parliament during
last week regarding Purvanchal getting AIIMS, the Members of
Parliament form  Purvanchal lobbied to get the AIIMS in their
respective areas. In this reference Ramkishun, MP of Chandauli and
some other MPs surroundings Varanasi lobbied  in Lok Sabha  that BHU
should get AIIMS.

BHU Vice Chancellor Dr. Lalji Singh is in view that BHU SS Hospital should get AIIMS status as SS Hospital is one of the
busiest hospitals in  country with OPD  over  one lakh patients, 50
thousand admissions and around 30 thousand operations. Though BHU’s SS
hospital is getting very less funds (Rs. 57 per bed per day) in
comparison to PGI, Lucknow (Rs. 8000 per bed per day)  and AIIMS, New
Delhi (Rs. 12000 per bed per day) as per bed charges (As per statement
of Medical Superientendent, SS Hospital, BHU).   If some extra support
in the form of infrastructure and human resource are provided  by
government, BHU can certainly cut the load of patients  of AIIMS and
BHU can managed equal treatment facilities at par with AIIMS. Many of
the patients of the UP, Bihar, Jharkahand, MP, Chhatisgarh, Nepal will
be benefitted directly who cannot afford to be treated at AIIMS with
lack of resources and proper connection to get admission in  AIIMS. In
this connection MP of Chandauli Mr. Ramkishun met VC Yesterday at VC Lodge
at 3.00pm and he assured him that he will extend all the support so
that BHU’s SS Hospital gets AIIMS status.
