IAS-IPS dispute resolved: UP govt

Lucknow, Jan 30 (CMC): The Uttar Pradesh government on Monday claimed to have resolved the ongoing dispute between IAS and IPS lobbies of the state with the acceptance of the service-related demands of the IPS Association.
"After meeting with IPS Officers Association, the government agreed to initiate the process of their promotion in vacant posts besides issuing fresh directives to follow police manual for posting of SHOs in districts," Chief Secretary Anup Kumar Mishra said.
Mishra claimed the IPS officers have decided to end the impasse as they were satisfied with the outcome of the meeting.
On reports of rift between Basti Divisional Commissioner Anurag Srivastava and Siddharth Nagar DM V Chaitra with SP Siddharth Nagar Mohit Gupta, Mishra said all the three officials have been transferred on directives of the Election Commission.
Taking a serious note of the issue, the EC had yesterday issued a notice to Srivastava seeking an explanation for his alleged misbehaviour with Gupta.
A two-member committee of Industrial Development Commissioner (IDC) VN Garg and DG (Anti-corruption) Arun Kumar Gupta has been constituted to probe the issue and necessary action will be taken on the basis of its report, Mishra added.
Meanwhile, on the arrangement of posting of SHOs in the districts, ADG (Law and Order) Subesh Kumar Singh said they will be posted after approval by the DM or on the recommendations of the SP.
However, in case of differences between the DM and the SP the zonal DIG would decide the postings, he said.
