Playing Sachin, Sehwag & Gambhir Together Will Affect Our Fielding: Dhoni

BRISBANE, 20 February (CMC) Defending the rotation policy of Team India in which one of the top three batsmen, including Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir is being ‘rested’ in each game, Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni playing the top three together affected India’s fielding.
“You want to field a very good fielding side also, because there are such close games and you can’t afford to score 20 more runs just because your fielding is not good enough on these big outfields. Playing all the three may happen, but it will also affect our fielding in a big way. Which means, there will also be more pressure on the batsmen to score those extra twenty runs? If the middle-order doesn’t perform well, then we’ll have to go with the experienced guys up the order,” says a report.
News Paper reports say that MS Dhoni's dig on Sunday at seniors Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir has strengthened the feeling that things aren't so smooth in the squad as far as team unity is concerned.
Dhoni said he would prefer a Suresh Raina or Rohit Sharma to the three bigwigs due to their fielding abilities. “Though Dhoni said the trio was “not bad but slower fielders“, his explanation for resting them in turn is less than convincing.
Once Tendulkar made himself available for the tri-series, the team balance was always going to be affected. Dhoni and coach Duncan Fletcher then adopted a rotational policy among the openers to “give more opportunities to Sharma and Raina”, says the paper.
Speaking on losing to Australia by such a huge margin, Dhoni said early wickets while chasing and leaking too many runs in the last 10 overs due to searing heat, were the main reasons for their defeat against Australia in a tri-series match.
"With that kind of score you needed a brisk start. They got early breakthroughs and that put pressure on us. Our bowlers were affected by the heat, they were cramping so it affected their execution," Dhoni said after the match,
