Sonia to interact with party MPs today

New Delhi, Dec 21 (CMC): With an aim to fix lose ends and bring Congress back on track, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi will on Wednesday address her party MPs and chalk out strategies regarding the upcoming polls in five states.
This will be Congress president’s first address to the party since she returned from the US where she underwent surgery in August.
She will address the general body of the Congress Parliamentary Party during which Sonia is expected to unveil her party’s strategy on the way ahead with focus on upcoming assembly polls in five states including Uttar Pradesh.
Later in the evening, she will also host a dinner for party MPs at a hotel.
The CPP meeting will be the first such meeting to be addressed by Sonia in the last few months as she had skipped the Monsoon Session in July-August due to her poor health.
The CPP meeting is also being held at a time when the Lokpal Bill is being debated intensely.
Gandhi will be addressing the party MPs against the backdrop of FDI in retail being put on hold and key allies calling for greater coordination in the UPA.
After the suspension of the decision allowing FDI in retail, the talk in UPA is that Congress will have to walk the extra mile on all major issues to keep the allies on board.
Gandhi's address at the CPP is also expected to highlight the broad contours of the party's strategy for the Assembly Elections in five states including in the crucial state of Uttar Pradesh where Rahul Gandhi is leading the campaign charge of 'Mission 2012'.
