Black Money chokes development

“If winter comes, can spring be far behind,” said Shelly. Today with this oft-quoted line of P.B Shelly, I would like to begin my editorial with a positive tone, presuming that the pace of development will soon catch up. The public is hopeful that the matter of Black money will soon be resolved and all efforts will be made to bring back the huge amount of money, accumulated in the banks of foreign countries. However this is just my presumption.
Isn’t it sad that the nation which had seen the rising SUN sixty four years back is still struggling for a good rate of development. If we compare with other developed nations, who have once been the British colonies, we will probably find that we have been a tortoise in the game of Hare and Tortoise. Accepted, “slow and steady wins the race”. But aren’t we too slow? We have the examples of Japan, one of the most developed nation, after the tragedy of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The growth of China, America, Europe, Australia etc is remarkable.
India took birth with the inbuilt problems of caste, religion, class, poverty and many more. If with time few of the problems were sorted out, many more also took birth such as terrorism, corruption, black money, nepotism etc. Somehow we were able to free ourselves from the clutches of the Britishers but we could not exploit the opportunity. Only the faces of the rulers, the autocrats have changed but not the rule!
All the problems and mainly the menace of Black money choked the development of the nation. If genuine efforts are made by the politicians without being involved in mud slinging, the problem of black money will be solved. The huge amount of money, brought back to the country, will change the scenario of each and every Village and India as a whole.
Let’s hope for the best!
