Munda, dy CM declare assets; four ministers yet to comply
Clean Media Today
Ranchi, Feb 12 (CMC) For the first time after the formation of Jharkhand, more than half of a dozen ministers including the CM have disclosed their assets. Among them, six are lakhpatis while CM Arjun Munda and his deputy Sudesh Mahato are crorepatis.
Last year, Speaker C P Singh, in pursuance of the Central government’s 2009 directive, had appealed to the state’s 81 MLAs to disclose their assets.
In response, only 45 MLAs have complied with the directive till now. The state, where a coalition comprising the BJP, JMM, JDU and All Jharkhand Students’ Union is in power, has 12 ministers.
Of them, CM Munda (BJP), deputy CM Mahato (AJSU), Revenue Minister Mathura Mahato (JMM), Tourism Minister Vimla Pradhan (BJP), Health Minister Hemlal Murmu (JMM), Agriculture Minister Satyanand Jha (BJP), Transport Minister Champai Soren (JMM) and Excise Minister Gopal Krishna Patar alias Raja Peter (J-U) have made their assets public.
Four ministers — deputy Chief Minister Hemant Soren (JMM), HRD Minister Baidhanath Ram (BJP), Cooperative Minister Hazi Hussain Ansari (JMM) and Building Minister Chandra Prakash Choudhary (AJSU) — have failed to declare assets despite three reminders by the Speaker.
