Islamabad: Mar 4: (CMC)   Top Pakistani diplomat Jalil Abbas Jilani on Sunday assumed charge as Pakistan's Foreign Secretary, replacing Salman Bashir on his retirement.
Bashir, who served as Foreign Secretary from May 2008 to March 2012, has been named Pakistan’s new High Commissioner to India and is expected to take up the post next month.
Jilani, who was expelled by India in 2003 after being accused of funnelling funds to Kashmiri separatists, joined the Foreign Service in 1979.
